How do I send email? (Bb - Student)
Students can send email to individuals who participate in a particular course or organization from the Send Email page. Emails can be sent to individual users or to groups of users within the course, such as all Users. Students cannot send email to users not in their course list from the course COMMUNICATIONS > SEND E-MAIL tool.
From My Institution area:
- Click on Send E-mail from Tools area.
- Fill in Subject and Message fields.
- Scroll down to the bottom of the page and click on the Submit button.
The Send E-mail tool lets you communicate directly with classmates, mentors, teaching assistants, and your instructor.

To return to the Select Users web page and prepare to send another e-mail, click OK.
- Always re-read your emails before you click the submit button, looking for misspellings, and consider your word phrasings -- how will your words be perceived?
- Familiarize yourself with netiquette, that is, the etiquette of communicating appropriately and effectively online.
- Sign your e-mail messages, as your e-mail address may not include your full name.
- Avoid using all capitals. Not only are all capitals difficult to read, but they are also perceived by the reader as "shouting."
- Use correct spelling, grammar, and punctuation, just as you would for any communication.
- Write your message as if anyone could read it. Remember, e-mail is not a completely secure form of communication. Would you be comfortable if someone other than the intended receiver were to read your message?
- Refrain from "flaming," which is expressing a strongly held opinion without tact or regard for others.
- Treat others with respect by making messages clear and succinct.
- Use emoticons to help define the tone of your message. An emoticon is a symbol that compensates for the absence of nonverbal cues when communicating on the Internet. For example: a colon and parentheses can be used to show:
happy face :) or J
sad face :( or L
